great little OSX app-irth

I ran across this little log app at versiontracker. seems to be pretty neat. it keeps a log of all the tunes you're hearing on the Moon (of course, you're only listening to the Moon ), plus you can make comments in the log, etc.

Would be cool if we could download shows, like Gagliarchives, Gnosis, Brainrock, Planetarium and of course The Rickter Scale so we could listen on our iPods while driving my vehicle at work. What! You don't own an iPod. Shame on you Join the 21st century and get one. I have 3 and am going to get the new iPod photo after the first of the year.

Anyway Dr. Dot, check out how hard this would be to do and let me know.

still wearing jeans and sweats.....

I don't own an ipod. I just recently got a CD burner and that's making my head spin!

When am I going to listen to this music?

While I'm using my cell phone trying to drive?

At the grocery store trying to pick up desperate housewives?

Nah, the 80's are enough for me. I gotta get past Reagan first!

I don't think it's the Apple name he objects to - it's the inflated price. At least that's my viewpoint. The Cretative Nomad works just as well, and is cheaper. My brother has the ipod, and we've compared them side by side, so it's a fair match-up.

B I N G O and bingo was his name-O. Why buy a Caddy when you get the same engine as a GMC? Status-symbol. If you're astute enough to see through the BS, then you buy the GMC. Same reasoning with the iPod vs. Nomad. Yep.

PS, not intended as a slam on iPod owners, but definitely intended as a slam on Caddy owners

Methinks you've hitteth the nail square on the head, my good man.

You would be running into some serious copyright issues here. More than my less-than-astute legal brain cares to comprehend.

Sorry, folks.

Dr. Dot, doesn't like to say no unless it could come back to bite him in the place where he sits (his favorite position).

I purchased an Archos MP3 player for my son 2 years ago. A lot of money for a lot of junk.

The iPod can play AAC encoded files. Better quality audio for much less space...

There are also many more add-on products available for the iPod. I got one of the Bose SoundDocks. Fantastic sound from such a small unit. Dr. Robert Bose if a genius in the acoustic engineering dept.

Yep.
Every price google returned was $249. for the 40GB Nomad.

Nomad doesn't support firewire, AAC, and iTunes -- which is really nice software.

CNET reviews talk about lots of problems with durability and software bugs in the Nomad. It's also a much bulkier unit than the equivalent iPod. Nomad: 4.5"x3.1"x.9" and 13oz. iPod: 4"x2.4"x.69" and 6oz.

Having to contend with all of the issues with my son's Archos unit, I'd be leary of buying any MP3 player that had durability problems being reported.

My iPod had been dropped numerous times -- never by me but by idiots that wanted to check it out at concerts, etc. when they see me using mine -- and, despite a few minor scratches on the back stainless steel because of these drops it functions flawlessly. $50 more for the smaller unit, better software, durability, features and the many more add-ons available is worth the small incremental price.

hmm. Bose is good sound if you don't mind no midrange. Great lows and highs. (I own a Bose home theater system and I'm getting ready to replace it due to dissatisfaction. Keep in mind that I payed enough to be expecting Audiophile sound quality.)

I had an Archos, and I replaced it with the Creative due to the display on the Archos. Couldn't read it well enough in daylight. I dropped the Archos on asphalt while going 20+ MPH on rollerblades, cracked the case, etc, and it still worked.

AAC is a good format, but I rip everything in MP3 for the station, so AAC would just be another format for me to contend with.

The bottom line? Your mileage may vary. Shop around and decide what FEATURES you want, and pay for that rather than the name. The iPod is a great product. (The Altec-Lansing travel dock is pretty friggin' impressive sound too :-))
