I agree with Hawk. Anonymity should not be used as an excuse to be rude. The shout box is a great forum to get to know one another, I have made some good new friends. Trouble makers need to be stopped. You cannot lose members just because some unregistered people are running riot in the shout box. What do people have to lose by being registered anyway!

I believe that a few of the RUDE "guests" are actually just ONE registered member, who is just being rude to spite people here that they disagree with!

FWIW, none of you are hidden -- at least to me.

This is an exercise in not having me have to search through logs to determine who said what and or from where, and then having to spank the offending party for saying/posting something inappropriate.

I think the thing that pissed me off the most was the "guest" posting the 128K stream URLs in the shoutbox.

We've had five different people say that it would be good to have to log in but not post the names on the front page. If you want to put it to a poll, do so. If not, it really isn't that big of a deal to anyone what is decided.

Fair enough. There was just a lot of noise about certain people not being able to have their input on to various changes to the station. It looks like we'll be requiring logins for the shoutbox.

I'll likely handle that some time this weekend.

It seems logical to me to restrict access to logged in members
if you're having drive-by abuses occur.

I do have to wonder why this site tends to attract such things.

So we're all in agreement that logging on is required to shout.

At this time, the list of who's on-line will remain. Who cares if you're lurking vs posting? There's no harm done, no privacy violation, no feelings hurt. I don't understand the objection to the list. If you don't like it, don't look at it. I like it - if I need or want to speak to someone quickly I like knowing there's a chance of a quick response. If they don't respond, I'll try again later...

If there's a problem I'm missing, let us know and we (Roger, Vax, Davin and me) may reconsider...

Same here, Jim. Not a big issue for me. I don't care if my login name appears. I got the impression some thought lurking was rude and, while I will continue to lurk (due to work constraints), I did not wish to be rude about it!
