Re: The most important sentences in prog rock lyrics
Maybe "we're only in it for the money" before that but definitely the most important sentence in all of music is "don't eat that yellow snow". Life, universe and everything in one line.
If I had to be serious: Sensibility Armed with sense and liberty With the heart and mind united In a single perfect sphere Neil Peart

Jon Anderson...how can the wind with it's arms all around me...how can it WHAT Jon? You're missing a verb!
![]() Anyway, I'm not sure what's important to others, but here's some that hit me right: "And all your money, won't another minute buy" ...Kansas "You can go sleep at home tonight, if you can get up and walk away"...Who "Sadder still to watch it die, than never to have known it".....Rush "Brave the knife to make em bigger, take a pill to make it harder, suck the fat then run the treadmill, give them toys for time...buy the land then pour the concrete, drive the car but leave the kiddies, break their bones then ask forgiveness, pose while they're in rags"...Salem Hill (So Human) Last edited by Rick and Roll : 07-25-2006 at 05:50 PM. |

I could do this all day...
"Have you ever known someone who builds you up to let you down?
Sincere apologies, sugar-coated promises; And as usual it's everybody else's fault... Ono!" -King's X "Could it be the human race is run?" -Pink Floyd "Sometimes I think the pain blows my mind." -King's X

Tinker, alone within a storm,
And losing hope he clears the leaves beneath a tree. Seven stones lay on the ground, Within the seventh house a friend was found, And the changes of no consequence will pick up the reins from nowhere.

"Theusz Hamtaak !"
![]() More seriously I think the Scottish band Pallas has very well-written lyrics, and even if they're not as "historical" as King Crimson or Yes lyrics, they're still great. I like the chorus of "Who's to blame ?" a lot: "Oooh, though the seasons come and go, Still the sickness seems to grow, In the minds, Oooh, though the players names may change, A simple question still remains, Who's to blame ? Who's to blame ?" Pendragon's lyrics on "Not Of This World" are very rich too, especially on the 1st track. For lyrics that fit more in the "historical" side of the topic, I would quote Marillion: "But even jesters cry !", "And thus begins the web", "So here I am once more, in the playground of the broken hearts"

Re: The most important sentences in prog rock lyrics
A place to stay
Enough to eat Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street Where you can speak out loud about your doubts and fears, and what's more, No one ever disappears, You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door. You can relax on both sides of the tracks and maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control, And everyone has recourse to the law, and no one kills the children anymore. And no one kills the children anymore.
