Latest updates to the moon
Jim thought he could slip one by on me, but no. I'm far too crafty and on-the-ball to allow that to happen.
The fact that the new files had been sitting there for two days not withstanding, of course. The first half of this list has already been posted on the main page, so I didn't bother posting them here. I posted them here now because I felt like it. So there.
And the latest entries, as of last night:
Now there's some seriously good stuff in that list. Enjoy!

Latest and Greatest. Additions for 12/28/04
Ladies, Gentlemen, and everyone else:
I'd like to announce the NEW WORLD RECORD for the SINGLE BIGGEST UPDATE to the Aural Moon Library! The Gold Medal goes to our very own ProgDirJim, for sending up SEVENTEEN albums equalling ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY INDIVIDUAL TITLES! I'm getting Carpal Tunnel just looking at the additions! In fact, I had to add an entire new subdirectory just for this upload (or I'd still be at it well past midnight). The list:
Enjoy! Roger -Dot- Lee, didn't think there was that much cool stuff out there!

However, I am pondering a different way of doing it thanks to your suggestion (actually, more thanks to my response to your suggestion, but, well, you started it). We'll see if it pans out. Roger -Dot- Lee

Stan? Which did you mean? If you meant the search going to the playlist, then that'd be a lot more do-able than going straight to the post. Actually, I'm liking that idea too. Putting search links in the posting is likely to be more do-able with a little experimentation... Roger -Dot- Lee, at least more so than going straight to my posting from the front page...

Latest and greatest additions to The Moon
Greetings and salutations, one and all.
As is my wont, I usually put some sort of witty comment here. But since a wonderful occurance has happened to one of our very own, that I shant eclipse his joy. Next time you see Jam Forte, offer up your congratulations. Now, for the additions!
Roger -Dot- Lee, no, you'll have to ask him yourself.

Geh. I'm wondering if it might not be a good idea to do an entire drop and reload one of these days, especially if we get a bunch more of these.

It may have been that the album titles (to all of them) were simply 'II'. That would pick them up that way, wouldn't they? I thought it compared artist, and in order to qualify for same album status, it had to match both artist and album name. That makes me feel a little better. At least it might not be DB corruption. Again. Roger -Dot- Lee, find database corruption even more distasteful than Neil Young!

Latest additions to the library, 1/11 edition
Greetings and salivations, Moonies!
I know that you all by now have noticed that I've made this particular thread sticky. No, it's not because I'm so enamoured with my own turgid prose that I expect everyone to swoon at every keystroke. I just got sick of trying to find the bloody thing. So I made it permanent so I wouldn't LOSE it. Anyway, here's the latest additions to the library. Some VERY interesting looking stuff. I'm going to dig around at these my very own self as time allows...

Thanks for update Roger. This Paatos should be one of the best 2004 albums. Fantastic mellotron performance and Steven Wilson as a producent.
Gargantua is Polish band, something for Gentle Giant fans. |

Not to muddy the waters..
Just a thought... Is there any way to close this thread, clone it, and remove the "commentary" leaving only a list of album additions?
FWIW, I found it useful to review the playlist additions, as a newcomer, and found a few artists I hadn't stumbled upon in the RQ list... That's probably a minimal justification tho... Alternatively, maybe a "read-only" thread with a single post that only "someone in charge" modifies that is simply a growing list of "Artist-album" entries... It might be a nice to have a reference list of some sort, that allows a "quick look" that is an alternative to the RQ list, where you sort of have to know what you're looking for, or are willing to click your way through... Well, you guys have to work with it, I only have to play with it, and I'm certainly not trying to create work for anyone... just some ideas... |

Updates to this thread(s)
This thread that you are now reading is open for continued commentary from the beloved peanut gallery. It is not stickied.
There is a read-only (Roger and myself can post to it) thread for just the updates. I'm thinking of keeping the read-only thread a floating one year time period - so you can peruse the last year's worth of additions, but not earlier. that should keep it to a manageable length, hopefully. Comments? |
