Romania

Hi,

This week on Progressive Shores we will visit the country of Romania. Romania is unique in that it is a former East bloc country but shares more in common with the other Romance countries (France and Italy especially) than it does with many of its neighbors. There was more government censorship in Romania in the 70s than there was in Poland (last week's show) or Hungary (two weeks ago), but that didn't stop many bands from producing some fine material that stacks up well with their Western counterparts. This despite the difficulty in achieving any level of cultural exchange with the West.

The show, as always, airs 9-11 PM Eastern time on Thursday and will repeat from 3-5 PM on Friday. Don't miss this one.

Regards,
Sean

Hey,

The replay is going on as we speak.

You can check out the playlist at www.toib.net/radio/ps/

I hope some of these bands (Phoenix, Sfinx, Progresiv TM) made an impression... they are pretty much all underrated (easy to be underrated when nobody knows about you).

Regards,
Sean
