studios...

some observations:

Suzanne Ciani is a mega-babe.

Kirk is going to have an orgasm when he see the pics.

There's a shot of Alan Parsons on page 6 where there's someone looking at him. It looks like he's saying, "When are you gonna mix it already"?

Richard Pinhaus has too much stuff, and not enough musically.

Vangelis is swallowed whole by his equipment.

Theremin and Moog too? Wow!

i felt my ears burning!:D

hey, great stuff dot!
i can tell you're a gearhead looking to happen ;)

btw- i was thinking of you when i recently purchased
garritan personal orchestra. you have to check this out-
www.garritan.com
REAL sampled orchestral sounds played by the czech orchestra,
midi mapped and controlled!! it even limits the instruments
to their natural ranges. it also works as a midi plug-in
in sonar, ect. as well as standalone.
translation- any cheap midi keyboard (w/ a mod wheel)
and GPO ($249), and you're going! add a cutdown
sequencer like cubasis, or the free pro tools LE,
(available at www.sharewaremusicmachine.com/smm)
and you're recording the output.

i'm trying not to let the new toy distract me from
mixing the cd, but as soon as it's finished
(hopefully this week), i'm diving in!

let me know what you think.

Kirk, now if they'd only come out with a OSX version of ProToolsFree...

kirk 12-21-2004 06:19 PM

hey rick- ooops! too many rogers...and rogors.:D
apologies roger (no dot) !

oh yeah..there's a mac version, but not osx..
well, garageband should be a minor consolation.
i can't believe the reviews it's been receiving in the trade mags.
bundled w/ a service pack (or whatever you mac users
call them), it's a steal.
for a comparison, sonar 4 producer's $749
-----------

maybe dot will still catch the post.

I wish I could take credit for it.

And I AM a gearhead looking to make it happen. It's now a matter of finding the time to sit down and MAKE it happen.

The kids have a couple of keyboards that can handle MIDI. I should probably investigate whether they have all the appropriate equipment to handle this.
